I just returned from a few days in New Jersey, where I met up with my buddy Hans Christianson for everything from shopping to movies to amusement parks and simply hanging out in the family vegetable garden.
We even managed to squeeze in a trip to Kevin Smith’s old stomping grounds and visited the original Quick Stop market featured in the “Clerks” films.

The new manuscript is finally done! I had lunch with my agent, Caryn Wiseman, yesterday and handed over the first draft of a new thriller for teens, tentatively titled Border Patrol.
It’s probably a bit too soon to reveal any major plot points, but it’s a real page-turner that takes place along the Arizona / Mexico borderlands. If Caryn likes it, then the editing begins...

Gabriel and I took a long Memorial Day vacation to the Land of the Midnight Sun, spending a few days in Kenai Fjords National Park, Denali National Park, and Fairbanks. The weather was perfect, and the wildlife abundant. The photo to the right was snapped at about 8pm, when the sun was still high and bright!

My pals Christie Duran (NBC’s Starting Over), Bruce Kanegai (CBS’s Survivor) and Dennis Luciani (NBC’s Average Joe) joined me for a fun afternoon at Ed Hardy’s Melrose Avenue store in Hollywood this weekend. The last weekend in April was a perfect time to visit family and friends in my hometown of Greenhills, Ohio.
Hans and I joined dozens of popular Reality TV stars for a few days of fun to help raise money for Reality4Diabetes.
It was a great opportunity to help out and make new friends. Of course I had my camera, and you can view some of our pics here!

I’ll be traveling with my good friend, actor Hans Christianson, at the end of the month to do a book signing in Cincinnati, Ohio, where I grew up. While there, we’ll also be participating in a full weekend of events with Reality4Diabetes.

If you’re a fan of reality television and live in the area, you won’t want to miss it. From the signing, to a party at Dave & Buster’s, to an afternoon Reds game at the ballpark, it’s gonna be a great time!

My best bud Nathan Marlow and I took a road trip down to Arizona to catch country singing sensation Miranda Lambert in a concert at Fort Huachuca.
After the show, we hung out, drank some beers, and did some catching up with Ran and the band before they got back on their bus and headed off to Texas. It was a great time!

I attended a wonderful book reading / signing event sponsored by the Northern California chapter of Sisters in Crime over the weekend. The soiree was held at A Clean Well-Lighted Place for Books in San Francisco, and featured popular mystery authors Rhys Bowen, Cara Black, Simon Wood, Hailey Lind, Hal Glatzer, and Rita Lakin.

It was a real kick to have a chance to read a short chapter of my book, Desert Blood 10pm/9c, to an attentive audience--and in front of authors I’ve admired for a long time!

It’s been a busy first month for Desert Blood 10pm/9c. This photo was taken at a signing at Barnes & Noble on March 9. The store is located close to one of the Clorox facilities in Pleasanton, California, so many of my friends and coworkers were able to stop by and offer their support. Posing with me is one of my best friends, Manny Enriquez, his wife Karen, and his son Eric.
