November 20, 2006 My buddy Joshua Coleman was visiting for a few days of fun and work...
We are preparing to begin writing an exciting new book together! More information on that soon.
I was pleased to learn that Desert Blood 10pm/9c has been officially nominated for a YALSA Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Adult Readers Award! This prestigious accolade honors young adult books that readers just can’t put down. Keep your fingers crossed... the awards are announced in January.

November 7, 2006 I recently returned from a wonderful trip to Toronto, Canada, where I was able to spend some time with my pals Lee Rumohr and Melissa Veszi.
After a couple of days exploring the city, we headed south to the Niagara Falls area, where we caught a play at the Shaw Festival and had a fun (but long) night checking out the falls. See some of our photos by clicking here!

September 18, 2006 My good friend, actor Lee Rumohr, was in L.A. this weekend, so it was back to the Southland for me.
As luck would have it, my friend Michelle was moving that same day, so we were all able to connect and have a good time.
Check out our photos from Six Flags and Venice Beach here!

September 2, 2006 I love traveling on Labor Day. There is no better time to get out of town and visit someplace fun than on the last free weekend of the summer.
This year, I traveled with friend and actor Hans Christianson to one of my favorite destinations: Colorado. It was definitely a great time...four uninterrupted days of hiking, exploring, good food, and visiting friends.
We hit the road on Labor Day itself and spent the holiday exploring the original South Park! See some of our photos here.

August 21, 2006 I took a break from editing and revising Border Patrol and headed down to Los Angeles for the weekend, where I spent an amazing couple of days with my best buddy, Nathan Marlow.
It felt great to simply get away and think of nothing but relaxing, having fun, and engaging in some good conversation.
We ended up at the beach on Sunday...see some of our pictures here!

August 3, 2006 Here’s an interesting little picture discovered in the ALA Cognotes newspaper from January. I attended the ALA Midwinter Meeting in San Antonio this year. Look for my smiling face on page 7! (Or just click the picture to the left.)
In other news, Caryn has provided me with the first round of edits for my new manuscript, Border Patrol, which she LOVED. I am eager to put the finishing touches on the story of Mark Malloy, his buddy Conejito, and Nogales’ most vicious coyote, El Chamuco. Check back soon for more details!
