July 4, 2008 Nothing beats a summertime road trip to visit family on the 4th of July. Gabi and I packed up the car and headed east to Ohio, stopping along the way to see great sights like the Arch of St. Louis and the (flooded) town of Hannibal, MO.

May 19, 2008 The new Stephenie Meyer book, The Host, is out. I connected with my buddies Amy, Carol, and YA author Alane Ferguson and drove up to Denver to get my copy signed.
The crowd consisted of nearly 1000 screaming fans. It was great to hear Stephenie talk about her amazing (and continuing) success!

March 27, 2008 The signing at the Milpitas Library went great! It was fun to meet with the librarians and talk to some of the kids...many of whom had read the book! Yay!
Pictured here are librarians Don and Laurie, along with one young fan and his mother.

February 20, 2008 I took a few days off and traveled down to Florida to visit with my good friend, Hans Christianson, who is preparing for his role as The Terminator at Universal Studios this spring. While there, we had a chance to visit the park and check things out firsthand.
We also hit up Busch Gardens in Tampa for some thrill rides! See our pictures here.

January 22, 2008 I just returned from a fun weekend in San Antonio, Texas, where I was able to see my good friend John Longoria rock a nightclub as the lead singer of Casetta. He was, as usual, awesome.

San Antonio was as beautiful as ever, and it was nice to be back, spending time with friends and visiting the city’s sensational landmarks, like the Alamo, Mi Tierra Restaurant, and the Riverwalk!

The “Other” Desert Blood
In 2001, when I began working on my book, I gave a lot of thought to what its title should be. After doing some snooping around on the Internet, I settled on a name that no one else was using and incorporated it into my story. I called it Desert Blood.
Imagine my surprise when, after selling the book to Simon & Schuster in January 2005, I learned that author Alicia Gaspar de Alba had chosen the exact same title for her new mystery novel! Luckily, my editor decided to tweak my title just a bit anyway, renaming it Desert Blood 10pm/9c.
I have met Alicia a couple of times now, and we get a kick out of the coincidence. The Collective Consciousness of the Universe hard at work...
Be sure to stop by Alicia’s site at www.desertblood.info for more details about her book!
